Implementation Guide
Getting started with Permito: a complete onboarding guide
Step-by-step walkthrough for setting up your first facility, configuring work areas, equipment and approval workflows from day one.
Start with company structure
Create the company record first, then map facilities, departments, work areas, equipment groups, and approver responsibilities. The cleaner the structure, the easier it is to route permits without manual chasing.
For multi-site operators, keep facility ownership explicit. Users should belong to the company, but their day-to-day queues should be scoped by assigned facility and role.
Configure approval workflows
Begin with the common permit types: hot work, confined space, electrical isolation, working at height, excavation, and line break. Each type should define its required checks, signatures, isolation steps, and close-out evidence.
Keep emergency and high-risk routes separate from routine work. This makes escalation auditable and prevents the system from treating all permits as equal risk.
Pilot before rollout
Run the first rollout with one facility and one mixed team of requestors, supervisors, HSE, and isolation managers. Measure approval time, rejection reasons, missing attachments, and signature completion.
Use those findings to refine forms, checks, and approval rules before opening the platform to every facility.
